For example, in a grid-scale energy storage project, the battery needs to be able to store and release energy reliably over a long period. Power batteries need to have excellent power density. This means they can deliver a large amount of power quickly. In an EV, the power battery must be able to provide the high power needed for acceleration and climbing hills. The charging and discharging rates are also different. Energy storage batteries usually have a relatively slower charging and discharging rate compared to power batteries. This is because they are more concerned with long-term energy storage rather than rapid power delivery. In contrast, power batteries in EVs need to be able to charge and discharge at a relatively fast rate to meet the demands of driving and recharging. Additionally, the cost structures of the two types of batteries are different. Energy storage batteries may have a different cost breakdown depending on the scale of the project and the type of battery used. Power batteries for EVs are often mass-produced, which can affect their cost and price in the market.
