The photovoltaic off grid power generation system is an independent power
supply system, mainly composed of photovoltaic arrays, solar controllers,
inverters, battery packs, and loads. The photovoltaic array is responsible for
converting solar energy into electrical energy, and charging the battery pack
through the adjustment of the solar controller. The inverter converts the direct
current in the battery pack into alternating current for use by the load. This
system has important application value in areas without power grids or with
unstable power grids.
In photovoltaic off grid power generation systems, the path of current and
the selection of equipment are both affected by batteries. When the solar power
is greater than the load power, the battery is in a charging state, and all the
electrical energy required by the load is provided by the photovoltaic array. On
the contrary, when the solar power is less than the load power, the battery will
discharge to supplement the insufficient electrical energy. Therefore, batteries
play an important role in energy storage and regulation in the system.
However, the current flowing through the battery can cause certain losses
and may affect the battery's lifespan. Therefore, some people have proposed
whether it is possible to allow the current to be directly supplied to the load
without passing through the battery for charging and discharging. In fact, this
process can be automatically achieved through circuit supply, rather than
relying on inverters. At the same time, current can only flow in one direction,
so batteries cannot be charged and discharged simultaneously.
